Thirty years after claiming Western Sahara as part of its kingdom, Morocco is still stuck with this problem. On November 1975, 350.000 Moroccans invaded the Spanish colony in an epic which became known as the Green March. As long as Franco was alive the colony was off-limits to journalists, so Abbas photographed it clandestinely in 1974, on a trawler which would stop at every port. He went back a third time in 1976 to cover Western Sahara where the POLISARIO was imposing a tough war to the Moroccan armed Forces.
