In their campaign for the presidency, both Bush and Kerry make a liberal use of the American flag, thus imitating millions of Americans who, since the 911 tragedy, are even more inclined to display it as a token of their patriotism. The flag is seen everywhere, be it shop windows, handbags or t-shirt. The American flag is probably the one most burned in countries opposed to US policy.
