Queen since 1952, following the death of her father George VI, she was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953, and continues to be the Head of State for Great Britain, Australia, Canada as well as several other Commonwealth nations.
She has been married to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh since 1947, and has four children and seven grandchildren. She continues an active role in state affairs, with weekly meetings with the Prime Minster, plus continuing the ceremonial duties of the United Kingdom.
