Raymond Depardon's new movie, "Untouched by the West" (Un Homme sans l'Occident) will be opening in Paris on January 15th, 2003. It has already been screened, and acclaimed, at this years Venice Film Festival.

Losely adapted from Diego Brosset's (an officer in the French colonial army) novel, "Sahara, un homme sans l'occident", the film tells the life story of one of the last free men living in the Sahara in the beginning of the 20th Century. Adopted by hunters, the man of the desert becomes a guide as famous as he is also feared, who will do the outmost to escape colonization.
