Robert Redford is the producer-director of the film version of John Nichol's 1974 epic in northern New Mexico. "The Milagro Beanfield War" begins when a farmer named Joe Mondragon decides to irrigate his beanfield illegally with water from a commercially owned creek. The movie has among its stars Sonia Braga, Christopher Walken, John Heard, Ruben Blades, and Carlos Riquelme.
