From the Baltic to Bavaria, missile nose cones point due East to the Iron Curtain, they are part of the US Air Force "Matador" units, NATO's chief missile deterrant to Soviet agression. A pilotless Matador Martin "Bird" can carry any kind of NATO warhead, without a runway. It is part of the "701st Tactical Missile Wing" in W.Germany and the NATO shield. MATADOR is a missile electronically-directed to its target, with a range of about 700 miles, at the speed of sound.
