Completed in 1930, the Empire State Building was still the tallest building on earth in 1950, when a TV tower was added. 10,000,000 bricks were used in the construction, 20,000 cubic feet of chrome nickel steel and aluminium were used to face the building with strips extending from the 6th to the 86th floor. It has nearly 7 miles of elevator shafts and provides enough floor space, 37,000,000 cubic feet, to house a city of 80,000 people. The rentable office space area is 2,000,000 square feet, all outside rooms, and can accommodate 25,000 tenants.
