The Consolidated Refineries Ltd, is a subsidiary of the Anglo Iranian Petroleum Company. The pipeline terminal of the Irak Petroleum Company in Haifa which transports crude oil from the Iraki oilfields to the storage tanks from where it is was formerly unloaded into container ships. It saved on the Suez Canal trip which tankers otherwise had to make.The pipeline is now dead, and the terminal is used to receive crude oil brought in by tankers from the Persian Gulf or Venezuela.The Egyptian Suez Canal conflict flared up when Egypt imposed a blockage on tankers bringing crude oil to the Haifa refinerly.
