Tehran. 26October 1967, Iran's head of state Mohammed Resa PAHLEVI crowned himself on his 48th birthday the "Shah of Persia, King of Kings", 26 years after he inherited the throne.The 29 year old Empress Farah Diba knelt before her husband to become the first woman ever to be crowned in the 2500 year history of the Persian Monarchy.The event took place in the Golestan Palace.Seated next to the peacock throne in military uniform was crown prince Resa, and his mother Empress Farah .After the 40 minute ceremony, the Shah, the Empress and Crown Prince Resa walked down the steps of the Hall of Mirrors into the gardens of the Golestan Palace where 5000 guests awaited them.Their Imperial Majesties Mohammade Reza Pahlavi Aryamehr ,Shahanshah of Iran and her Imperial Majesty Imperial Majesty Empress Farah Pahlavi,the Shahbanou of Iran ,his Highness the Crown Prince Reza,Princess Shahnaz and Princess Farahnaz Pahlavi attended the ceremonies.
