Lionel JOSPIN (57) the Socialist candidate for the Presidential Elections of May 1995, has headed the French Socialist Party for seven years during the 1980's, was Education Minister from 1988 to 1993, and selected to be the Socialist Party candidate in "primary" election in what was seen as a victory for the rank and file over the party apparatus. Attracts traditional left support and urban intellectuals.
