Sept 1964.The newly elected Indian Prime Minister SHASTRI made his first official visit outside of Delhi, to Calcutta. He was accompanied by his wife and by members of his cabinet. He was welcomed by Atulya Ghos, a member of West Bengali's Congress Party. He held a mass meeting on the Maidan in Calcutta.
