INDIA.Dalai Lama,10th anniv Tibetan uprising.

Marilyn Silverstone

In 1959 the Tibetans, fearful for the safety of the Dalai Lama, staged an uprising against the occupying Chinese forces and were repayed by a shelling of Lhasa and the Palace of the Dalai Lame. The Dalai Lama fled into exile in India followed by many of his people. There are today 85.000 Tibetans living in exile in India, and neighbouring Himalayan kingdoms, as well as settlements of Tibetans in Switzerland, Frand, England and Norway.. These photos show the 10th anniversary of this uprising, attended by the Dalai Lama near New Delhi.
