BANGLADESH. Refugees.

Marilyn Silverstone

July 1971. Four months after the crackdown of the Pakistani Army and the beginning of the massacre in East Bengal (25th March 1971), the flow of refugees into the Eastern parts of India contiguous to Bangladesh continues. Now past the 7 million mark, the unending stream of misery, orphans, and familes is becoming unbearable. Four Indian states border East Bengal, and are bearing the brunt of the influx: East Bengal, Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya.
