The Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) rebel units had their training camps in the Nicaraguan mountains and nearby Costa Rica. After intensive jungle training with the most sophisticated weapons supplied by Havana, they made their way towards Managua for the final offensive to overthrow the regime of President Anastasio SOMOZA.
