G.B. London. Silver Jubilee. 1977.

Bruno Barbey

The 25th Anniversary of the Queen's reign of "Jubilee Year".
Tuesday June the 7th was the climax of the "Jubilee Year" when the nation paid tribute to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip during a memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral and a parade through the streets of London. "The Golden Coach" which weights 4 tons and is 200 years old carried the Royal Couple from Buckingham Palace to St Paul's, its last outing had been the Coronation in 1952. Prince Charles escorted his parents. Upon their arrival at St Paul's Cathedral the Lord Mayor of London, and a congregation of 2700 stood and welcome them. The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Ronald Coggan conducted the service. After the service Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip participated in a "walkabout" through Cheapside district and chatted with citizens on their way to Guildhall where an official banquet was given.
