Arabo-Israeli War. " The Altalena affair "
On June 21st, 1948, during a cease-fire declared by the U.N. , the Altalena, a ship transporting 900 Jewish fighters and arms for the Irgun (a right-wing Jewish terrorist organization, which believed in using violence to expel the Arabs from Palestine), tried to land on Kfar Vitkin beach. The Hagganah, Israel's government troops, answered by opening fire.
