Turkey, Van. 2021. August 6. After illegally crossing the Turkish-Iranian border, Afghan migrants are detained by Turkish gendarmerie near Lake Van.

They fled the arrival of the Taliban in their city. They have just made a long and perilous journey and do not want to relive what they have already been through. The gendarmes tell them that they are going to bring them back to the Iranian border. They are devastated.

Turkish government intensified the security near Turkish Iran border as hundreds of people from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan try to cross illegally everyday.
