SPAIN. Galicia. Carril. 2008. Galician mariscaderos (shellfish-gatherers) wade out each day at the right tide time through chest-high water, sometimes in atrocious weather, with their equipment (long-handled scoop) and hauling a basket on a large inflated inner tube. The scoop is pushed along the seabed to dislodge the clams which are then collected into the basket in the inner tube. On their return they queue to have their clams weighed which are auctioned later that day in the market on the sea front.
