FLORIDA. Miami. 2012. "50/50" from the series, Postcards From America.
50-50 is a grid of polaroids made on a summer day in 2012 during political rallies in Florida preceding the presidential election that year. Goldberg placed an ad on Miami’s craigslist for both Democrats and Republicans to meet him on the corner of Lincoln Ave and Washington where he photographed them against a simple white backdrop. In this collage Republican voters on the left are paired with Democratic voters on the right to subvert our assumptions about the parties positions. Despite the rift between the two, it is only together that the two halves make a complete image.
