On September 15, 2022, several mass graves, including a site containing 445 graves and 450 bodies, were discovered in the woods near the Ukrainian town of Izium when it was liberated by Ukrainian forces after several months of occupation by Russian forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
