TURKEY. Antakya. 2023. The bodies of several people recovered from a flattened apartment block in the hard-hit city of Antakya. At least 20,000 people were killed in Hatay, where Antakya is situated.
On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit central and southern Turkey, and Northern Syria. It was followed by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake. It is estimated that there were 45,000 deaths in Turkey, and approximately 7,000 in Syria.
