MOROCCO, Road from Marrakech to Ouarzazate. Friday, June 18, 2021.
The villages of the high Atlas Mountains enjoy enviable views an much cooler summer temperatures. At the same time, fiercer rainfall and rampant deforestation, have produced devastating floods, which routinely wash away houses, with sometimes lethal consequences. Traditional earth houses are particularly vulnerable to deluges and as a consequence many villagers are extra motivated to rebuild their villages in concrete -or try their luck further afield in a city like Marrakech.
