Ait Ben Haddou Morocco. June 22, 2021.
Ait ben Haddou is one of the best preserved examples of rammed earth architecture in Morocco. A UNESCO Heritage Site since the 1980’s, it attracted tourists and film crews from across the world -until COVID struck. Since then locals have struggled to make much of a living. Locals abandoned the historic village in favor of a largely concrete houses across the now mostly-dry riverbed. When the worse of the summer heat bites, those who can’t afford AC suffer the consequences.
