MOROCCO, Marrakech. June, 17, 2021.
Around the periphery of Marrakech, new developments are springing up on seemingly every plot of available land. These developments are designed to house new arrivals, and an expanding native population. Built, in almost every instance with concrete, they represent a significant break with Morocco’s traditional architecture past. Although this part of the country routinely posts summer highs in the 40’s, temperatures which are best suited to the use of mud brick, which has insulators properties, there is concrete and concrete alone across the construction sites of Marrakech.
