USA. NYC. 2013. From “Balloons for Kabul,” a pop-up event at a gallery in New York’s Lower East Side. Hundreds of pink balloons floated around the space, and pink Post-it notes were available to write to the people of Kabul. According to the organizers, “We will give away 10,000 balloons to adults (in Kabul) who are commuting to work at the beginning of the work week to celebrate them as individuals and as a community. We intervene in their daily routine to share with them hope, wonderment, and possibility.”
