As beds are scarce many patients ‘camp’ outside the clinic and the air is thick with woodsmoke as the families prepare their dinners. “A wall fell on the two children; there are cuts on their heads and faces. We have travelled far to come to this main hospital. We’ve been here four days; we will stay seven days, remove the stitches and then maybe be discharged. We get food from the market and water from a tap here in the hospital grounds.”
