TANZANIA. Kigoma and Kisulu districts in Western Tanzania.
Mtabila refugee camp for Burundian refugees, is one of the last two remaining camps on the border. 60 miles from Burundi, the Tanzanian Government are keen to close this camp down as the UNHCR has agreed that the situation in Burundi is stable enough to let them safely return home. For many in the camp they are not keen to leave, even with re location 'packages' offered by the UNHCR.
A group of women, all of whom have sufferred Gender Based Violence attend a WLAC meeting. (WLAC work in the refugee camps working with Para legal volunteers (refugees themselves) who they train in Human Rights issues related to women and Gender Based Violence)
Hacia Ncamubinge 40 yrs. She is a widow due to HIV, but is unable to go home to Burundi as the relatives of her deceased husband have been violent towards her and have warned her not to return home. She has sought legal help from WLAC.
