Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop at 941 Bourbon on the corner of St Philip, was built in 1772, the cottage survived the Great Fire of 1788, and is now a very popular bar to which the post lady is delivering letters. Jean Lafitte and his brothers used the blacksmith shop as a blind for their slave smuggling trade.
