FALKLANDS. A new arrived family from England who are at present buying land for a farm at Packes Port settlement. One of the large farms owned by absentee landlords which are slowly beginning to be split up and sold to individual owner occupiers. A policy encouraged by the Island Council, but thwarted by the Falklands Islands Company which still owns 42% of the land, and refuses to sell. 1984.
