Istanbul's Istiklal street is one of Istanbul's top tourist attractions. However, the historic area is facing a major crisis with the downturn in tourism due to the country's instability and high rents. In March 2016, this shopping area was hit by a suicide bomber. Many shop owners are facing difficult times because of the lack of tourists and have no other choice than to close their business.
