Spain. Castile and León. Salamanca. The House of Shells was constructed during the 15th century as a palace for Rodrigo Maldonado, a knight of the Santiago (Saint James) Order. The architecture includes Gothic, Moorish and Italian styles. In total, there are approximately 400 scallop shells on the exterior of the building celebrating the Order of St James. 2017
