Bieke Depoorter
EGYPT. Tunis. Al-Fayoum. September 2013.
(Translation of written text below)
- Rich or poor, all mothers have the same tenderness.
- Papa sayes: I used to sit like this with my mother, ages ago.
- He wrote it wrong, it should be “says.”
- I sit like this with my mother, now and a long time ago.
- The relationship between mother and son is different from the relationship between mother and daughter.
- Mothers are very tender with all their children, boys or girls, but there are times, at a certain age, when a girl needs her mother more because there are things she can’t tell her father —women’s secrets, I mean—and her mother knows more about these things than her father and will be able to help her more.
