SRI LANKA. Reddaivaikal. January, 2018. Jeyavanitha Kasipillai, 49, photographed inside her home in the village of Reddaivaikal, northern Sri Lanka. Jeyavanitha's daughter Geromi Kasipillai, was 17 when she went missing after being taken by the Sri Lankan Army as she and her family were fleeing the fighting near their village in March of 2009. A few years later, Jeyavanitha believes that Geromi's face appeared in the background of a campaign photograph for the current Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in which he is surrounded by Sri Lankan school girls during a campaign stop.
