IRAN. 2018. Alireza, 28, works the grand bazaar.
Some just care about the economic situation, some want the regime to to be toppled and there are also ones that don’t even know what they want: they simply call for a change. There is a saying in Iran which says ‘the revolution of the hungry people can’t reach anything good.’
I went there because I was curious and I wanted to stand by my people. There were many security guards everywhere and the atmosphere was tense. I participated in the 2009 protests but it was so different this time. My cusins in the provinces ,all my age are unemployed. There is a drought. They have never seen snow for ages . Maybe in a hundred years you will read about us in a history book.
When protests broke out in dozens of cities in Iran recently, everybody had different opinions, but no one wanted to come in front of my camera. Afraid.
