Robore, Bolivia. December 13, 2019.
The remains of burned trees after forest fires in the Chiquitania region of Bolivia. As fires raged for over two months, former Bolivian President Evo Morales was blamed for indirectly causing the fires after he passed legislation encouraging slash and burn farming to create pasture land from the wild forest. The fires were started by small farmers who took advantage of the new legislation to open new land to farming.
