USA. Arkansas. Russellville. The Latimer Tourist Home, built in the early 1900s, was the only lodging available for African American travellers between Little Rock and Fort Smith between 1940 and 1970. The Latimore Tourist Home was listed in 'The Negro Motorist Green Book,' a guide for African Americans that informed them of services specifically available in a segregated time. Service stations, restaurants, night clubs and lodging were among some of the accommodations for those who were traveling. Today the house is empty and in a state of disrepair.
October 10th 2016.
