For a story for GEO about the Hernandez family, one of several families chosen to participate in this cross border celebration of Children’s Day in Mexico. The father of Arturo and Luis, who I photographed in LA, was deported to Mexico and permanently separated from his sons. The emergency door of the border fence opened to give five families separated by the border three minutes each to embrace. The event is organized by Border Angels, a migrant-advocacy group.
