NEPAL. Near Gorkha. 2005. The Maoists shut down Nepal entire transportation network frequently, with no more than a pronouncement of a 'bandh', or general strike. This usually means that the rebels do not permit any traffick on any roads for the duration - which can be many weeks at a time. Here, along one of Nepal's few paved highways, a man who has been stuck between roadblocks for over a day waits patiently.
