While seeking refuge inside of a church and on its grounds, 5000 Tutsis were massacred in April 1994 by Hutu extremists. The bones and remaining debris of the victims have been left as a memorial to the massacre where 800,000 Tutsis were massacred in the largest organized killing of the decade.
