USA. Hog Hammock, Sapelo Island, Georgia. 2014. The island is home to the last continuously intact Gullah-Geechee community on the eastern coast. The 44 remaining natives are descendants of slaves that were brought to the island, mostly from Sierra Leone, in the 19th century. Joseph Hall.
