SCOTLAND. 2011. Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. A public park in the centre of Edinburgh, the Gardens were created in two phases between 1770 and 1820 following the long draining of the Nor Loch and the creation of the New Town. From the Gardens towards Market Street, the spires of the University of Edinburgh and The Hub (originally home to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, now a performance venue and home of the Edinburgh International Festival) can be seen.
