BANGLADESH. Keraniganj, Dhaka District. 2015. Garment workers. Keranigani, on the Buriganga River at the south end of Dhaka, is one of the largest ports in the world. This section of the district houses hundreds of small local sweat shops where laborers are paid by piece. Most work a minimum of twelve hour days, six days a week. Since windows are barred in the seven story buildings, they remain uninspected fire hazards. Child labor laws are not enforced. Clothing here is made for local distribution.
