According to the new military plan, US Marine/Army units are getting attached to new Iraqi pro-American forces in an effort to gradually hand security operation over to the Iraqis.
In the case of Falluja, several brigades of a "Quick Reaction Force," built out of Iraqis mostly from the southern areas, form the IIF (Iraqi Intervention Forces), nicknamed "Djundis" (arabic=soldier). They patrol the city, raid houses of suspected insurgents and they are being trained...etc.
