KURDISTAN. Qala Diza. 1991. Once populated by 70,000 people and destroyed by Saddam Hussein in 1988, Qala Diza is slowly being rebuilt by refugees who are returning to remake their ruined homes. International aid for materials has helped reconstruct some shelters and schools.
