WEST BANK. Kalandia. October 2003. A young Palestinian woman walking toward Ramallah has just passed through Kalandia checkpoint. This major checkpoint lies just north of Jerusalem. Thousands of Palestinians pass through it every day, traveling between Ramallas and Jerusalem. It represents the type of checkpoint that will be built at main pedestrian thoroughfares at principal openings in the separation wall.
