AFGHANISTAN. August 16, 2009. U.S. Marines and Afghan soldiers talk to a sickly village elder of Mian Poshtay, a largely hostile village next to a Marine Forward Operating Base. They treated his stomach ailments in hopes of building good will amongst the townfolk. Later that day, an IED blew up on a Marine patrol at the entrance to the village.
