AUSTRALIA. Burrup Peninsula. 2009. The archeologist Ken MULVANEY, who is engaged in the preservation of Burrup Peninsula, one of Australia's most important spots for indigenous rock art with thousand of petroglyphs, drawings pecked into the rocks with stone chisles. The site is a national heritage. Nevertheless there is a gas plant built amidst of it, as well as many other industrial facilities. The authorities are planning further expansion of the industrial sites, which by default harms the unique rock art, some of which is over 30,000 years old.
