Narmaya, a 21-year-old female domestic worker from Nepal, poses for a photograph behind a curtain to protect her identity after suffering abuse and running away from the Kuwaiti host family that was employing her in Kuwait. Narmaya is now living along with over a dozen other runaway foreign domestic workers in a secret shelter operated by an American couple on the outskirts of Kuwait City.
