Rome: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel.
The Chapel is named after Pope Sixtus IV (15th century) and is used for the conclave. It is renowned for Michelangelo's frescoes depicting the history of mankind before the coming of Christ, events from Genesis, the Salvation of Israel, and The Last Judgement (16th century). It also contains paintings by Perugino, Pinturicchio, Botticelli (15th century).
Between 1981 and 1993 all of Michelangelo's frescoes were restored.
