On August 17th 1999 the segment of the North Anatolian Fault produced a magnitude 7.4 earthquake which took tens of thousands of lives, leaving 250.000 homeless.
One year later European scientists are predicting a much larger earthquake yet to come, this time in Istanbul.

BURSA: A French crew of geologists and seismologists
from the CNRS working together with their Turkish counterpart , Tubitak, are transporting seismographs to the Krazli area.
